Came home from Chicago late monday night, but have been so busy with track so haven't had time to post anything, but here it is. Since it was a choir trip we travelled like all other mucisians on tour - with (not very comfy) buses. We actually didnt sing a whole lot, but it was still fun and we got to see a lot of what chicago has to offer. We ended up visiting a lot of museums, wich is okay, The Art Institute of Chicago was amazing, and 2,5 hours there was definitely not enough. We sang at very random places at times, like in elevators and lines and stuff, so i feel we definitely entertained chicago's tourists. I still hadn't recovered a hundred percent from hawaii so i was kinda tired the whole trip, but at the end there i had some energy to do som bargains, so news in my wardrobe too. not bad.

i can't wait to get back to norway now, im so amazingly excited.

Couple of days since i came home now, and to be honest, it still sucks. everything seems kinda dull.. and cold. but im leaving for chicago tmw night so hopefully that'll bump up the mood a little bit. well, hawaii was incredible, it was one perfect week, and i was just smiling all the time. & im pretty sure everyone else were too, so yeah, happy happy. we went surfing, snorkling at hanuma bay, went to a sweet culture center & just lived life. how awesome is that. im definitely going back. i miss you cousins!

morning! im in denver, colorado right now waiting for my next plane to san fran. i do have the feeling that this is gonna be a long four hours.. i left minneapolis early this morning and got quite the scoop of drama before i was ready to get on the plane. jeff, who took me to the airport left when we got to there, so i just went to check in my luggage and everything right away. my suitcase was like 15 pounds overweight so i had to pay extra. well i gave them my creditcard, but it didn't work..surprise. so there i was standing, without money, and nowhere to go. i called around and luckily jeff came back with money and saved the day. it was about 25 minutes till my plane was gonna leave when he came, so i pretty much ran through security ha. but i was there in time and everyhting ended well, so five for that.

i called nikki 10 min ago to tell her that i was i denver, and so is she. but i don't know if her hostparent will take her to the airport, and i can't really start finding my ways around in denver, that would be a little too risky.

well i think im gonna go find someone to talk to now, so i will either write some more during my lay over in san fran or when i get to honolulu!

this weekend has been very nice, the sun is shining and aah, i just want spring now. Friday we went to the girls' basketball game, which we were sure we were gonna loose, but hallelujah we won, and now we're going to state! Saturday we went to decorah, which is a very cute little norwegian town. we pretty much just went there to pick out my senior pictures and say hi to family, and to get some melkesjokolade of course.

Had my first track & field practice today, and it was fun! I was a little bit nervous, but it's not bad at all. The coach is really chill, so we don't have to push ourselves too hard if we don't want to. I'm gonna do long distance (1 & 2 mile probably), so from now on I will have to run outside every day, but it's okay since it's cold.. then you're at least not dying of heat. So yeah, im very excited for this to start for real!

I've had an odd circadian rythm lately.. wow that word is weird, c-i-r-c-a-d-i-a-n, i think i spelled it right, ha. so okay, i sleep when i come home from school which is around 3.30 till like 11 pm, when everyone in this house is going to bed. then i make supper or yeah, microwave something.. I eat, and i'm up till around 2 in the morning. i get up at 5 again to do my homework. then at 6 i go back to sleep for like 40 min, which is pretty retarded.. then i get up and shower and leave for school. so yeah, i shall change this before next week, cuz im wasting a lot of time on zzz...

So, i have an excuse for not updating the last couple of months. I lost my camera.. But now i have a new one, and im gonna be really good from now on. I dont really have that much to say, except from the fact that it has been freezing here in Minnesota lately. Luckily its getting better and we can actually go to school. Not that that is so great, but yeah. This weekend has been awesome, I went down to Mariell in Kansas, and now im just happy and smiling all the time, cuz that really did me good, and holy we had fun!

Was supposed to be last day of school before chritmas, but instead we got another SNOWDAY. It's freezing here now, it was -30 degrees celsius the other night! I've had a lot of fun lately, but i do miss you guys now that it's christmas and everyhting. And i hope your christmas will be amazing, and i hope you get snow! Unfortunatley i dont have a lot of pictures to share with you, but i do have some from our xmas concert last thurday, which eas a very good concert if i can say so myself ha ha. We sand "Jeg er saa glad hver Julekveld" and you can just imagine how big of a challenge it was to teach the whole choir of like 90 people to sing in norwegian, but it turned out good, and people were crying of joy (ha ha) so mission accomplished. I'm so glad it's finally xmas break now, i can't wait to sleep in every day.

SNOWDAY

New Sports Season

Now that fall season is over, all the school sport are being changed. So no cross country, volleyball or football anymore. These are being changed to basketball, gymnastics and WRESTELING. I've never really seen wrestling before, and i didn't think i would like it, but oh my word, it's so much fun! It's just crazy boys and a lot of drama. Very violent in other words, and it's actually very entertaining.. i don't know how good that sounded..

We were supposed to have our christmas concert with the choir today, but because of all the snow that is blowing in it was cancelled. And there is a possibility that school gets cancelled tomorrow too, so i'm hoping they'll announce it "snowday" on the radio in the morning, so..stay tuned

Thanksgiving

I was really excited for my first thanksgiving (in Alexandria up north in Minnesota), but as lucky as I was, I got sick. The whole family has been half-way sick for a long time now, so it was finally my turn. So Thanksgiving day was not that good, I practically slept through the whole day, but I did manage to get up and get some good thanksgiving food. And that is pretty much what this holiday is about, food. Not that that is bad.. The friday after thanksgiving is called Black Friday, which some how means, SALE. Big time sale, the department stores open at like 4 am. and people line up from midnight to get in first. We refused to do that, so we left the house at 5.30..in the morning. Then followed 6 hours of shopping, which mostly included waiting in line. And yes, I bought a camera! Finally. So since I got sick I don't really have any pictures to share with you, but I'll post a picture that is taken with my new camera!

evening my dears. been a goodgood four-day weekend, but now it's back to school, with a slightly new schedule. It's Veteran's Day tomorrow, so at least we don't have as much school as usual, and we have to sing (the choir). I'm also in an all girls little singing group now outside the choir, and I think it's gonna be a lot of fun. And for some odd reason we're kinda into the whole "Mean Girls"-christmas preformance now, so this should get pretty interesting.

Anyways..Over to something totally different. Here in my town, beautiful Blue Earth, the votes ended up going in McCain's favour, which I guess I wasn't really surprised about. I have to admit that his concession speech was extremely good and so was Obama's victory speech, chills...

so the day is finally here, and it's amazing how split up it seems to be. Even my hostfamily is split up, so we're really excited to see the results, i'm guessing this whole evening will be spent in front of the tv.. Short little update here, i'll have a good one at the end of this weekend! We had a Harvest Choir Concert on tuesday, so that was fun, we kind of screwed up a little bit, but I don't think anyone noticed. Other than that I haven't done anything too spectacular this week, but tomorrow is gonna be fun, since halloween is really big here and stuff. so party party! haha!

I do have a kind of sad message though, Kathrine from camp went home to norway last weekend, because she didn't get along with her hostfamily. Her, Anette and me were gonna go to hawaii together so that's kinda sad, but Anette and me are still gonna go. excited!

We had a foreign exchange student thing yesterday, kind of pre-halloween thing. Halloween is a really big deal here, so next weekend should be interesting! So we went to this haunted house or ghost house or whatever, and we could only go three at a time. It wasn't too scary, but in one room there were like dusins of doors and we had to find our way out, and that was kind of a struggle..but after like 10 minutes we found the right door! Then we went to pizza ranch and then bowling, haha. we didn't really bowl too much though (luckily), we just sat talked about how fat we are getting:)

I have to read a very interesting..hrmf.. book for American Literature now... and study for chemistry

Minnesota Education Assosiation or something. This simply means a break for the students, some days to sleep in and relax, pretty nice. So we got 5 days off, thursday-tuesday. On thursday I just slept in and caught up with my shows, One Tree Hill, House, Heroes... And I met Kiera for tanning, haha! Friday we went down to Decorah, Iowa again to meet family and to take my Senior Pictures. Senior pictures is a tradition for all seniors, they get their pictures taken by some photographer or some one else, and then they share them with the school and one of them goes to the yearbook. Anyways, it was actually kind of fun, and I got to go to a lot of cool places for my pictures, including a really nice art center at Luther college. Saturday I met up with my EF Camp buddies Henni & Anna cuz it was Henni's birthday. So I spent the weekend at their house and I got to meet their friends and we had a bonfire birthday party kind of thing! AND we had cake:)

Volleyball season is over now, and it feels weird. It's pretty much what I have based my life around the past 3 months. So yeah, that's kinda sad. Homecoming

Just want to share some photos from homecoming week, which btw was very fun! Monday started of with Coronation, which is the night when we crown our King & Queen. Our queen was Danika, who is the captain of the varisty volleyball team, so that was goodgood. The rest of the week was dress up days and games. Enjoy friends!

Ok, so a short update. I just came home from a wedding, or the reception, it was fun, jees, i was like the only person at my age. Or one sophmore girl, but she left before the party started, haha. It was a typical american wedding, and the band was amazing, a crazy blond in pink snakeleather pants, shoot i should have brought a camera.. 30 and 40 years old are the best dancers, no kidding, they're seriously crazy. my hostdad even danced, what a sight, he and my hostmom, wow they should like enter so you think you can dance or something, haha:D i love my hostfamily, not much more to say about that. anyways.. we had a volleyballgame on thursday and won very comfortably, so everything is nicenice.

what a week, what a week

This week has been pretty busy.. School started on thuesday, a scared lene entered the doors of BEA high school, and she liked it, haha! it was kinda weird though, but thats whats fun, everything is new and different! On wednesday school started for real, and we of course got a lot of homework.

we had a game on thursday in new ulm, a little over an hour from blue earth. the varsity game (we have c, b and a-squad/varsity, so three teams, where varsity is the best) developed to be one of the most excting volleyball games ever! it was serioulsy crazy, i didn't even know volleyball could be exciting! all three teams won at last, so it was a fun busride home! we didn't get home till 11.30 though..i was so tired, an i knew i had to do homework..but i just couldn't so i got up at 5.15 the next morning in stead.

friday was homegame for the football boys, so that was fuuun! and we won! on saturday we went to iowa to see a college football game and visit family. and know i now how football actually works, so im kinda excited for next game!

its sunday today and i had to get up early to help my hostmom with sunday school, haha, it wasn't that bad actually, but she knows i won't be going to church every sunday..

we have a homegame tomorrow (volleyball) against the biggest rival so i'm a little nervous, + that i have my first dance class tomorrow. (i know your thinking, why the heck does she do everything she's not good at)...this is the year for new experiences, haha! AND it is my birthday tomorrow, woho!

heyheyhey. ok, so as i said i would update a little more often then i have been doing lateley, so i might as well start the habit right away. the three last days have been fun. thursday was one of the volleyballgirls' birthay (haley), so we had a bonfire and stuff. we went home pretty early though, because we knew we had to get up early for practise in the morning.

on friday (yesterday) practise was only two hours, so that was nice. after practise we had to go to Fairmont so i could get my shots, apparently i was missing two.. later mariah, blair and myself went to Jackson to see the footballboys' first game this season. i think everyone goes to like all of the games or something. even though i didnt understand very much, i kind of enjoyed it, haha, to bad they lost like tha last second. it was quite the ride up there though, mariah's car was shaking and making funny noises and the oil was leaking, so yeah...

today we went to Mankato, which is a bigger town with a nice and big mall. it was me, my hostmom, and dasha (im pretty sure that isnt the way its spelled, but anyways..). dasha is a foreign exchangesstudent from russia, she's also going to blue earth HS. So we did some shopping, so now we have all we need for school also. Speaking of school, only three days left now, and im a little bit nervous, but i know its gonna be fine, and my hostdad is there, so there's really nothing to worry about..yey!

Status: i'm very very happy now, i love my family, and this place is not bad at all. i just feel very lucky:)

sorry friends, for not updating in quite a while! from now on ill try to post like twice a week or something. and even add pictures as well, haha! mm, nothing too exciting has happened lateley, volleyball and more volleyball i guess, sleeping and more sleeping, haha! but school starts on tuesday, so no more lazy days. there was an open school thing today at the high school so i got to meet all my teachers, so that was cool.. im gonna post something very soon, i promise, you sooo have my word on that:)

a short little post here now, my new little sister has a soccergame, don't want to miss that! So I moved in with my family yesterday afternoon, and i'm just smiling and smiling, coz this is the best hostfamily anyone could ever wish for:) Both of my hostparents are teachers, but my hosdad is also one of the american football coaches at my high school. and i now have two little sisters, and it's all about high school musical and hannah montana, haha.

i had my first volleyball practise today from 8 am - 1 pm, yeah, 5 HOURS. and it's not really volleyball, it's all condition, weight-training (styrketrening), balance, running, and then maybe 40 minutes of volleyball. and the "worst" part is that they are really good, hmm, i'll get there..sometime

school starts september 2, so i still get to chill out most of the time, except from the five hours with volleyball. and wednesday i'm meeting my counsler to choose subjects and stuff

Minnesota Update

Ok, a lot has happened since last post. I think i'm just gonna do a list thing coz i'm really tired:)

- Been in Madelia for three days at Anna & Henni's house, thursday we painted their room, then we went to New Ulm for shopping, and in the evening we went to Madelia High School for a sports meeting thing. Later that night I also got to meet a potential host family.

- On friday we got up really early to go to Mall of America. awesome.. we bought a ton of stuff there. we also got to go to IKEA, and we ate swedish food and we actually met some swedish people

- Today (saturday, or i guess it's sunday now..) I went back to my IEC and we were supposed to go and get Julia from Taiwan at the airport. But then another IEC in the area called and said she maybe had found a family for me. So, I met up with this other IEC, and she took me to Blue Earth, a city that's a little bit bigger then Madelia. Then I met the family at their house and they showed me around and stuff. After that we went to the pool place and hung out their with their two amazing daughters.

Status: So, i'm staying with this family till monday and if we all feel comfortable i'll move in here and this will be my hostfamily. and till now everything has worked out great, and this is really like the dream family, i mean, i've only been here one day, but they seem awesome. Another thing is that i'll have to change school from madelia to blue earth high school, and thats very ok with me.

To night I hung out with some people from blue earth. we were at this guys house and it was huge, it was really nice. we had a bonfire thing, hung out in the hot tub and in the pool. they have water slide in the back yard...pretty cool. and it was great meeting people at my age this soon.

as you probably have understand by now, i'm doing great, and this is waaay cool. i really have to get some sleep now though, catch up later!

tjena. en liten oppdatering. siste dagen paa camp, foerste dagene i minnesota.

so, the last day of camp was kind of sad. the staff put on a kind of delated 4. july fire works show and everything. de siste timene tilbrakte vi i en hockeyhall. alle dro paa forskjellige tidspunkter, saa det var den beste maaten aa holde alle samlet paa. Kathrine dro med buss 3 og Annette dro med buss 6, det var sinnsykt trist. For hver buss som dro maatte man si hadet til noen, og taarene bare trillet og trillet. saa maatte jeg si hadet til alle som var igjen, da jeg dro med buss 10.

var saa heldig aa ha my neighbour at camp, julia med meg paa hele flyreisen. Vi floey foerst til chicago, og saa derfra med et bitte bitte lite fly til rochester, minnesota. der maatte julia og jeg si farvel ogsaa. en annen utveklingsstudent (maria) og jeg ble hentet av hennes velkomstfamilie paa flyplassen, de var litt gale saa jeg er glad jeg ikke bor med dem. vi kjoerte til en liten by, fairmont, hvor julie my IEC came and picked me up. Vi kjoerte innom et par butikker for aa kjoepe mat og litt forskjellig. Saa kjoerte vi inn til Truman, en tiny tiny by hvis man kan kalle det det, haha.

I dag er det tirsdag, saa dette er min fjerde dag her i minnesota, de siste dagene har jeg for det meste tilbrakt med to andre utvekslingsstudenter, som jeg kjenner veldig godt fra campen. henni og anna bor i madelia, med den beste familien ever. we went shopping with their hostmom yesterday. Saa vi tre har det veldig bra, selv om baade anna og jeg fikk kultursjokket ganske raskt, det var ikke saa veldig goey hvis jeg skal vaere aerlig. men som dagene gaar blir man jo mer vant til omgivelsene og alt, og dagen i gaar var suuuuperbra, med besoek paa mankato university hvor minnesota vikings var og alt.

paa loerdag kommer "julia" fra taiwan. my IEC julia just calls her that because she can't pronounce her name, haha! jeg haaper egentlig at jeg har flyttet innen den tid, coz it still feels like i'm on vacation. but julie is very nice, so everything's fine.

jeg legger med noen faa bilder fra campen ogsaa, det var virkelig two amazing weeks. flere bilder kommer soon soon soon.

and it's great. dagene her paa campen gaar fort, og det foeles som om vi har vaert her i en evighet for some reason. wish camp would last a little longer though, because i know the last week will pass by pretty fast. ja, det var dritt aa si hadet til alle paa flyplassen, men naar man tenker paa hvor mye man skal oppleve dette aaret,sitter man tuil slutt igjen med mange flere good feelings enn noe annet.

det er sinnsykt mange germans her, men det gaar egentlig helt greit. alle som jobber her paa campen er good people og de er flinke til det de driver med, i hvert fall mesteparten, haha. we were at the beach today, it was great, and we were lucky to get nice weather concidering the little storm that passed by us yesterday.. det har bare gaatt en uke og det er veldig rart aa tenke paa at det fortsatt er et aar til jeg skal hjem igjen. meeen, vi har det dritbra akkurat naa, og jeg tror alle som er her kommer til aa faa et sinnsykt aar i america. haha, there's so many people here that are going to minnesota, or i mean, there's some at least. and i guess there are many from bryant and stonehill too. i've talked to two girls that are going to madelia as well, but as said it's not certain at jeg skal begynne der, but we'll see.
and i'll probably call my arrivalfamily some day soon just to let them know that i'm allive. here's a little list of what we've been doing here: school, spise, fitness, yoga, arts & crafts, movies, volleyball og COMMANDO HIKE. haha, coolest thing ever, kind of hide and seek thing..yeah, boston, beach.... jaa, det var vel egentlig det kanskje

ok, dette blir et kort innlegg. i have a current issues class with george in half an hour. but camp is awsome, and tomorrow we're going to boston. har funnet to jenter som skal gaa paa samme skole som meg, men det er mulig at jeg faktisk skal bytte skole. nei uff, jeg maa gaa! snakkes senere!

hei alle sammen. tror kanskje dette blir siste innlegg før det bærer av sted på søndag, men skal i hvert fall få til et innlegg på campen. jeg snakket med marielle (som skal til alabama) i sted og da var det bare timer til hun skulle dra, veldig veldig rart å tenke på. og på søndag er det min tur. det er så fryktelig trist å si hadet til alle man er glad i. jeg har et lite crew som skal vinke meg farvel på søndag, så er ganske sikker på at tårekanalene vil sprenges. nei, uff, nå ble dette bare et trist innlegg. jeg gleder meg jo! se fremover! på norwich university hvor campen jeg skal på finner sted vil det være 450 utvekslingsstudenter fra 12 forskjellige land, så det tror jeg kommer til å bli dritgøy. å, btw, gave til min fremtidige velkomstfamilie er snart i boks, album med én del hvor det er bilder av spesielle og kjente steder i norge (naturen er jo det viktigste) og én del med bilder av familie og venner i spesielle og hverdagslige øyeblikk. håper de vil like det. for noen dager siden ringte jeg representanten min som også er en del av velkomstfamilien min, og hun virket alle tiders, kjempesøt. vi snakket en liten stund og det var kjempekoselig. hun sa blandt annet at jeg kanskje kanskje skulle bytte skole, men det gjør jo ingenting i så fall. nei, nå skal jeg avslutte før tittelen på innlegget mitt må gjøres om. da skal jeg bare si god tur til alle dere som skal møte på gardermoen i natt, sees på norwich eller i boston.

one week left. først nå begynner det her å føles virkelig. det er litt skummelt, men jeg gleder meg så mye til campen at det overdøver alt, nesten i hvert fall. jeg har ikke fått vertsfamile enda, men det er ikke noe stress for jeg bare crasher hos velkomsfamilien/representanten så lenge. og det sammen med en annen utvekslingsstudent (som ikke er fra noreg selvfølgelig). har forresten ikke hatt tid eller klart å fikse noen av punktene på de mange listene mine, så det er det vel på tide å ordne opp i. til nå har det bare vært sørlandsidyll og copenhagen, which i love. jeg sitter med en veldig rar følelse nå, jeg vet liksom ikke hva som skal skje, men det er vel kanskje like greit. takk gud for at så mange har gjørt dette før meg. jeg mener, hva er det værste som kan skje? at jeg mistrives så mye at jeg må dra hjem? uansett, kjenner jeg meg selv rett skjer nok ikke det. there's a solution to every problem i guess. neeei, nå er det bare å glede seg!

Jeg føler meg som duden i Naiv Super for tiden, jeg lager lister over alt og ingenting for å føle en viss kontroll, haha. Noe jeg har funnet ut at jeg definitiv ikke har for tiden, alt har gått så fort frem mot sommerferien. Har i hvert fall funnet ut at det er en del ting igjen å gjøre,

Lære å bake brød. Har hørt at man må lete godt om lenge for å finne grovt brød i USA, og jeg vil ikke leve på loff og bagels..
Lære å vaske klær. Tror ikke dette er den største utfordringen, men det er uansett noe jeg må lære meg.
Finne på noe artig jeg kan gi til den kommende vertsfamilien min...ideas?

25 days to go

Ettersom at det bare er ja, 25 dager igjen til jeg drar, bestemte Line og jeg oss for å begynne å blogge, slik at dere her i Norge kan følge med på det vi pusler med i USA. Jeg skal til Minnesota, har ikke fått vertsfamilie enda, men jeg skal gå på skole i en by som heter Madelia. Line stakars har ikke fått vite noen ting.Vi reiser begge med EF, og skal på camp først. Line skal på camp med SMG (partnerselskap med EF) og jeg skal på EF camp. De ligger forøvrig begge i nærheten av Boston, men de er visst i forskjellige stater, så jeg vet egentlig ikke hvor nærme det kan være.. Uansett, reisefeberen er høy nå, og vi føler oss egentlig ganske gale som begir oss ut på dette. Meeen, vi kommer nok til å få det jævlig gøy.
